Micromill
Micromill Electronics Ltd.
Formerly known as Datacom Designs Ltd.

Micromill Electronics Ltd. was a developer and manufacturer of high-end radio and surveillance equipment for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the intelligence and law enforcement community, founded in 1978 in Emsworth (UK). Micromill was a member of The Defence Manufacturers Association (DMA), and later of the Chelton group of companies. Outside the UK, Micromill's products were marketed by Griffiths Communications Ltd (later: Grifftech Systems) in High Wycombe.

According to the company's first website in 2002, it was established in 1978 [1], probably as a Sole Trader under the name Datacom Designs. It was registered as Datacom Designs Limited (DDL) on 25 October 1979. On 27 September 1984, it was renamed Micromill Electronics Ltd. In 2001, Micromill was acquired by British aerospace manufacturer Cobham, but kept trading under its own name. In 2002, it reported an annual turnover in excess of GBP 3 million with a staff of 60+ people [2]. On 5 October 2011, Micromill became part of Cobham subsidiary Cobham TCS.

In 2016, Cobham TCS formed a new subsidiary — Domo Tactical Communications (DTC) — in which the former companies Spectronics Denmark A/S and Micromill – both specialised in covert surveillance – were merged. In 2018, the branch of DTC that was involved in tracking mobile targets, was transferred to MetOcean Telematics, after which the name Micromill disappeared [3].
