This connector is often found on military equipment. It is extremely robust and allows quick connect/disconnect by turning the plug 10 degrees. It accepts a U-77/U cable part (plug).

  1. WARNING — On some devices, such as the SSR-4 receiver, an U79/U connector is used to provide the 110 or 220V mains AC voltage to the instrument. This is potentially dangerous as the contacts of the plug can easily be tounched with a finger. Always connect the instrument first, before connecing the cable to the mains.
