Espion
Covert body worn VHF transmitter - this page is a stub

Espion 1 is a body-worn VHF transmitter with a microphone disguised as a wrist watch, developed around 1963 in France. Neither the developer nor the user are currently known. Given its professional manufacture, it seems likely that it was used by a law enforcement or intelligence agency, for covert overhearing of conversations and/or surveillance (as part of a two way system).

...

The device was powered by a single battery cell that provided a voltage between 5.6 and 6 V. It is likely that mercury cells were used for this at the time.

Unfortunately, the model tag of the 'Espion' shown here has been erased, so we have no idea about its model number and origin.

  1. As the real name of this device is ccurrently unknown, and because it was found in France, Crypto Museum has given it the nickname ESPION — the French word for SPY.
