Amphenol-Tuchel Electronics GmbH
- this page is a stub
Tuchel is a German manufacturer of industrial connectors, founded in 1955 by
Ulrich Tuchel as Tuchel Kontakt GmbH. The company is particularly known for
its high-end connectors in radio and television studios. In 1967, the company
was acquired by Amphenol-Borg GmbH, and was renamed Amphenol-Tuchel Electronics
GmbH. The company is a full subsidary of Amphenol Corporation (USA), the
second largest manufacturer of electrical connectors worldwide [1].

The C091-series consists of circular plugs and sockets with a varying
number of pins, very similar (but not identical) to the famous
DIN connectors 1 found in consumer equipment. Both the cable-mount part and
the panel-mount part have a threaded outer bus, that allow it to be secured in place.
Furthermore, the pins of a Tuchel connector are thicker than those of its
DIN counterpart.
At the bottom of the socket is an index notch that mates with the
index stub of the plug.

Confusingly, Tuchel also manufactures DIN connectors that have the same
outer dimensions and threaded barrel, but a different layout and pin diameter.
