Angstrem TETRA ← Azart
Military HF/VHF/UHF software defined radio
- this page is a stub
AZART-2 (Russian: АЗАРТ-2), 1 is a military-grade
HF/VHF/UHF two-way handheld radio,
developed around 2021 by the Russian MoD in cooperation with
NGO Angstrom
(Ангстрем) in Moscow (Russia). Like it predecessor,
AZART-P1 (R-187-P1), it is a software defined radio (SDR)
that covers 27 to 520 MHz with a variety of
analogue and digital waveforms, including TETRA.
It was first demonstrated at a military show in 2021, and is
expected to be launched in 2023 [1].
|
Compared to its predecessor, the R-187-P1 (AZART),
the Azart-2 is 30% smaller, 30% lighter and 43% more energy efficient.
In addition, the case is more ergonomic and several new features
were added, including an enhanced frequency range, WiFi and navigation
through the Chinese BeiDou and European Galileo satellite networks.
The keyboard will be the same, but the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) has
been replaced by a high-definition one.
The image on the right gives an impression of what the Azart-2 radio will
eventually look like.

The device is built around a 1892BA018 SCYTHIAN (СКИФ) system-on-chip (SoC)
processor, originally developed for use in smart phones
by Elvees in Moscow (Russia).
It contains four ARM Cortex A53 64-bit cores running at
1.2 GHz each, plus a number of peripherals such as PowerVR GPU, Mali VPU,
a 2-core ELcore DSP-cluster running at 600 MHz
and a 2-core MIPS32F service processor.
Its performance is comparable to the Apple A8 chip that was used in
the iPhone 6.

The Russian word АЗАРТ (AZART) means Excitement or Passion.
|
- All features of the R-187-P1 (Azart), plus:
- New case design with improved ergonomics
- Expanded frequency range
- Electronic compass
- 3-axis inertial sensor
- WiFi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n)
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Navigation via BeiDou and Galileo
