Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson, commonly abbreviated Ericsson, is a Swedish
multinational networking and telecommunications company, headquartered in
Stockholm (Sweden) [1]. The company specialises in infrastructure, software,
and information and telecommunications technology, such as 3G, 4G and 5G
equipment and IP and optical transport systems.
Ericsson is the inventor of Bluetooth technology.
In the past, Ericsson also produced (mobile) telephones.
Ericsson also produced cipher machines
like the C-37
under licence of the Hagelin Company. 1
The company was founded in 1876 by Lars Magnus Ericsson and is jointly
controlled by the Wallenberg family through its holding company Investor AB,
and the universal bank Handelsbanken through its investment company Industrivården. Wallenberg and Handelsbanken acquired their Ericsson shares
in the early 1930s, after the fall of the Kreuger empire [1].
