The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication,
abbreviated SWIFT, is a Belgian cooperative society – SWIFT SC. –
that provides telecommunications between banks, in particular a secure and
trusted messaging system, that is used for carrying information about
financial tracactions. Contrary to popular believe, SWIFT does not maintain
bank accounts [1].
