Teleprinter and digital data signal decoder/analyser

W-4100, later also W-4100D, is a standalone teleprinter and data signal
decoder/analyser, introduced in 1993 by
WAVECOM Elektronik AG in Bülach (Switzerland), as
the successor to the W-4010.
It is capable of decoding and displaying
textual data sent by means of more than 100 communication modes.
The W-4100D model 1 was introduced in 1996. The device can be regarded
as a competitor to the GA-082 FSK Analyzer made by
Rohde & Schwarz in Germany.

In 1996, the W-4100 was succeeded by the W-4100D, which had a
Digital Signal Processor (DSP), hence the suffix 'D' to the model number.
The W-4100D was succeeded in 1996 by the W-40, which was
based on an ISA-bus interface card that could be placed in a regular PC
of the era.

- W-4100 (1993-1996)
This is the initial version of the devices. It was available from 1993 to 1996.
- W-4100D (1996-2001)
This version is the successor of the W-4100, and contains a
Digital Signal Processor (DSP). It was available from 1996 to 2001 and
supports around 100 communication modes. In practice, many existing W-4100
devices were upgraded to a W-4100D. They can be recognised by a 'D' suffix
on the model/serial number tag.
The version features here, is of this type.
