EKD-500 is a civil/military monitoring and surveillance receiver,
developed around 1986 by VEB
RFT Funkwerk Köpenick in East-Berlin
(East-Germany, DDR), as the successor to the EKD-300.
Together with its anticipated successor EKD-700,
it belongs to the last commercial
communications receivers manufactured in the DDR before the fall of the
Berlin Wall in 1989 and the subsequent
reunification of Germany in 1990, followed by the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
