Message Entry and Read-Out Device
- this page is a stub
MEROD, the abbreviation of Message Entry and Read-Out Device,
is a family of portable text entry devices, developed in the mid-1980s
by Racal Communications Inc. in the UK. As they allow
the text to be transmitted at high speed, they are also known as
burst encoder or burst transmitter.
Some MEROD devices feature embedded encryption by means of a
proprietary algorithm.
