Minox Mirror
Minox Right Angle Viewer

For inconspicious photography, Minox developed a special mirror that allowed pictures to be taken 'around the corner'. It was an attachment to the camera that placed a small mirror in front of the viewer. This way, the user could pretend to be interested in something in front of him, whilst he was actually photographing something or someone to his right.

As far as we know, two different versions of the right angle viewer were available. They are both shown in the image on the right. The rightmost one is the oldest. It's a rather high-quality solution that can be fitted at one end of the camera and allows pictures to be taken to the right of the user.

The other one is a rather cheap looking variant consisting of a small mirror in a grey plastic enclosure. It can be fitted directly in front of the viewer, using the rigs at both sides of the Minox camera to hold itself in place.

Mounting the plastic version can be tricky and requires quite a bit of force, with the risk of damaging the camera. The advantage of this version, however, is that it can be mounted both ways around, allowing pictures to be taken to the left of the user as well. As the rigs are in the same position on all metal Minox subminiature cameras, this mirror is suitable for all of them.
